Cyfradd ailgylchu uchaf erioed Ceredigion / Ceredigion reaches record recycling rate

MAE ffigurau a ryddhawyd yn ddiweddar yn dangos bod Ceredigion wedi cofnodi ei chyfradd ailgylchu orau erioed o 72% yn 2019/20, sy’n golygu mai Ceredigion sydd â’r perfformiad gorau ond un o blith holl Awdurdodau Lleol Cymru.

Mae nifer o ffactorau wedi cyfrannu at y cyflawniad hwn, gan gynnwys cyflwyno system casglu gwastraff domestig newydd yn llwyddiannus ledled Ceredigion. Un ffactor allweddol fu sut mae trigolion lleol wedi cofleidio’r system newydd a’i chefnogi.

Y Cynghorydd Dafydd Edwards yw’r Aelod Cabinet dros Briffyrdd a Gwasanaethau Amgylcheddol. Dywedodd: “Mae’r newyddion gwych hwn yn adlewyrchiad o Garu Ceredigion ar waith. Mae trigolion Ceredigion, y Cyngor a’n partneriaid yn y diwydiant gwastraff wedi gweithio gyda’i gilydd i gyflawni hyn. Mae gwella a chynyddu ailgylchu yn golygu yr ymdrinnir â gwastraff yn y ffordd fwyaf amgylcheddol a chost-effeithiol â phosibl. Mae’r targedau statudol ar gyfer ailgylchu yn uchelgeisiol ac yn heriol, yn enwedig yn yr hinsawdd economaidd sydd ohoni, ac edrychwn ymlaen at weithio gyda’n trigolion a’n partneriaid i sicrhau ein bod yn parhau ar y trywydd iawn.”

Wrth i gyfnod y gaeaf ddechrau, rhoddir pwysau ychwanegol ar dimau gweithredol y Cyngor, gan gynnwys y tîm casglu gwastraff. Byddwn yn parhau â’n hymdrechion i ddarparu’r lefel orau bosibl o wasanaeth, fel yr ydym wedi’i wneud drwy gydol pandemig COVID-19. Hoffem estyn diolch diffuant i drigolion lleol am eu holl gefnogaeth, ac i aelodau ein timau casglu gwastraff am eu holl waith caled wrth ddarparu’r gwasanaeth casglu gwastraff newydd.

RECENTLY released figures show that Ceredigion recorded its best ever recycling rate of 72% in 2019/20, making Ceredigion the second best performing Local Authority in Wales.

A number of factors have contributed to the achievement which includes the successful roll out a new domestic waste collection system across Ceredigion. A critical factor has been how local residents have taken to and supported the new system.

Councillor Dafydd Edwards is the Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Service. He said: “This fantastic news is a true reflection of Caru Ceredigion at work. Ceredigion’s residents, the Council and our partners in the waste industry, have worked together to achieve this. Improving and increasing recycling means that waste is dealt with in the most environmental and cost effective way possible. The statutory targets for recycling are aspirational and challenging, particularly in the current economic climate, and we look forward to working with our residents and partners to keep us going in the right direction.”

As we enter the winter period additional pressures are placed on the Council’s operational teams which includes waste collection. We will continue in our efforts to provide the best level of service possible as we have throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We would like to extend a sincere word of thanks to local residents for all their support, and to the members of our waste collection teams for all their hard work in delivering the new waste collection service.
