A FAMILY garden will soon include a new house after planning permission was given by Ceredigion County Council.
Members of the authority’s development control committee approved an application for a new dwelling in the garden of Crydyrawel, Rhydyfelin, a semi-detached house on the western side of the A487, at its meeting on November 11.
A similar past application had been refused as it was considered “unacceptable back land development which would have a detrimental effect on the character and appearance of the area.”
Local member Cllr Alun Lloyd Jones had asked the committee to consider the application, recommended for refusal, because it was for a local couple wishing to stay close to parents, and there had been no comments from neighbours against the plan.
Questions were raised about future access problems if either property were to be sold outside the family but members were told this was a legal matter not a planning consideration, concerns about over development of the site were also raised.
However, when it came to the vote the majority of members supported the application.
